Town of Lexington <br />Lexington Center Committee <br /> <br />Minutes for the Friday, April 7th, 2023 meeting of the Lexington Center Committee <br />held in the basement of the Cary Hall building, Lexington Massachusetts and <br />remotely at 8:30 am. <br />Committee members present: Eric Ballard, Jr. Richard Brown, Upasna Chhabra, <br />Frederic Johnson, Pamela Lyons, Innessa Manning, Jerold Michelson (Chair), <br />Pamela Shadley, Jon Wakelin <br />Liaisons: Doug Lucente, Select Board, Charles Hornig, Planning Board, Sandhya <br />Iyer, Economic Development Director, Lorraine Welch, Economic Development <br />Coordinator, Heather Hartshorn, Chamber of Commerce <br />The sole item on the agenda was Town Meeting Article 34 and two proposed <br />amendments to that Article. <br />Jerry Michelson began with an overview of the amendment offered by Dawn <br />McKenna to Article 34. Various members spoke against the amendment and no <br />one spoke in support of the amendment. Charles Hornig answered a number of <br />questions regarding the effect of the amendment on Article 34. The consensus <br />was that pulling the Center out of Article 34 would both thwart the intention of <br />the MBTA Zoning Act and the long-standing central concern of the Committee to <br />promote vibrancy in Lexington Center <br />The Lexington Center Committee voted unanimously, nine in favor and zero <br />against, to recommended that Town Meeting not support the amendment to <br />Article 34 offered by Ms. McKenna. <br /> <br />Jerry Michelson gave an overview of the amendment offered by Todd Burger to <br />Article 34. There was some discussion of the vague language of the amendment. <br />Charles Horning explained the Planning Board’s view of the proposal. Jerry <br />Michelson described the shadowing effects of buildings on different areas of the <br />center and the changes at different times of the year. <br />
