Sustainable Lexington Committee
Minutes of Meeting of February 10, 2023
A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held by Zoom conference. A
quorum of at least six was present throughout.
Members Present: Cindy Arens (chair), Celis Brisbin, Paul Chernick, Lin Jensen, Andy
Joynt, Todd Rhodes, Charlie Wyman
Members Absent: Rick Reibstein, Dan Voss
Staff Absent: Maggie Peard
Other Attendees: Mark Sandeen (Select Board)
The meeting was called to order at 4:01 pm. Cindy referenced the opening statement requested
by the Town Clerk and all members present responded that they could hear.
Todd walked us through the latest version of the Integrated Building Design and Construction
Goals Checklist. The Permanent Building Committee had met the day before and had several
questions and comments. Some discussion focused on the insertion of a "Level 3: Day Shelter"
in the list of Resilience Levels for Town buildings. The committee discussed this and several
other questions and possible edits throughout the document.
Some discussion followed as to the best way to move forward. There is a need to forward our
and PBC's latest thinking to the High School Building Committee for when they meet next week,
and also a path towards more formal, eventual approval by the School Committee and Select
Board. In the end it was agreed that the committee should approve the revised document for
sharing with the High School Building Committee (with the understanding that a next -level draft
will be forthcoming for inclusion in their A&E bid package), and also invite the Permanent
Building Committee to hold a joint meeting with SLC at our next meeting on February 28.
The committee formally VOTED to approve the current draft of the Integrated Building Design
and Construction Checklist pending resolution of the comments at a joint meeting of the
Permanent Building Committee and Sustainable Lexington Committee, and to approve
forwarding it in its current form to the High School Building Committee. All seven members
presented voted to approve.
Todd will follow up with John Himmel and Chuck Favazzo and also with Mike Cronin.
The committee voted to adjourn at 4:47 pm.
