Associate Commissioner Absent: Staff Present: Siqing Pan, Department Assistant th Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy called the January 5, 2023 Historic Districts Commission meeting to order at 5:01pm. FORMAL HEARING Chair Paul O’Shaughnessy opened the formal hearing for 1707 Massachusetts Avenue, exterior changes (Painting) in the East Village Historic District Documents Full plan set of proposed alteration: dated November 14, 2022 Photographs of entire face of each building elevation visible from the public way: dated November 14, 2022 List of Material: dated November 14, 2022 Work Scope Narrative: dated November 14, 2022 1707 Exterior Changes Duo Image: dated December 20, 2022 1707 watercolor white building reduced: dated December 20, 2022 The applicant explained the proposed exterior changes to 1707 Massachusetts Avenue. The Board felt the proposed changes were appropriate except the signage and lighting. Paul O’Shaughnessy made a motion that the Board of HDC accept the proposal as presented during the meeting in terms of repair, materials, color, and movement and scale of street numbers. Bob Adams seconded. Roll Call Vote: Bob Adams – Yes, Paul O’Shaughnessy –Yes, Robin Lovett – Yes, Dan Hisel – Yes, Lee Noel Chase – Yes, Mark Connor – Yes. Motion carried. All in favor. Motion was granted and seconded to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness for exterior changes to 1707 Massachusetts Avenue except the signage and lighting. Motion carried, all in favor. 1 / 2
