RECEIVED <br /> 2023 23 ,Jairi, am <br /> Monuments & Memorials Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes TOWN E <br /> RK <br /> Thursday, November 3, 2022 <br /> Conducted in Person and by Remote Participation <br /> LEXINGTON MA <br /> 7:00 PM <br /> Members Present in Person <br /> Linda Dixon, Chair; Avram Baskin, Bebe Fallick, Chuck French, Leslie Masson, Charles Price <br /> Members Present by Remote Participation: Glen Bassett <br /> Members Not Present: George Gamota, Danjun Pu <br /> Guests <br /> Holly Ding, Jerry Xu, Wei Ding <br /> Business <br /> Chair Dixon convened the meeting at 7:10 p.m. and read the Town notice regarding the conduct <br /> of public virtual meetings. She declared that a quorum was present. She introduced guest <br /> presenter Jerry Xu and Lexington Heroes Liaison Holly Ding. Wei Ding joined the committee at <br /> 8:05 p.m. <br /> Approval of Minutes <br /> After a minor correction, on a roll call vote, the corrected minutes of October 6 were approved. <br /> Helping Users Find the Shortest Route Between Monuments <br /> Jerry Xu, member of the Lexington Heroes student group,presented a sample of a program he <br /> and his sister Cassidy have developed to propose for the Committee's Database project. Dubbed <br /> "Pathfinder", the application uses Google Maps to create the shortest route between selected <br /> monuments and provides clear directions to the user who may be walking, biking, or driving <br /> between monuments. The presentation generated an enthusiastic discussion and Jerry answered <br /> many questions. The group consensus was that this would be a great addition to our project. <br /> Google Maps Training for Lexington Heroes <br /> Professor Wei Ding, director and mentor of the Lexington Heroes group, reported that she has <br /> contracted with a computer professional from UMass Boston to train the students in higher level <br /> Google Maps coding skills. This activity will be funded by a$3,000 grant from the Community <br /> Endowment of Lexington (CEL). <br />
