Town of Lexington
Lexington Center Committee

Minutes for the meeting of October 13th, 2022 beginning at 8:30 am in Estabrook
Hall, Cary Hall Building, Massachusetts Avenue, Lexington, Massachusetts.
Committee members present: Eric Ballard, Upasna Chhabra, Katherine Huang,
Frederic Johnson, Pamela Lyons, Jerry Michelson (chair), John Wakelin
Liaisons: Dave Pinsonneault, DPW, Doug Lucente, Select Board, Michael Boudett,
CEC, Sandhya Iyer, EDD, Capt. Chris Barry, LPD, John Livsey, Engineering; and
Bridger McGaw, Economic Development Advisory Committee
John Livsey began with the Streetscape Update: paving is beginning right now and
should be completed by the end of next week; 33 trees left to plant, hope to
complete by the end of next week; pavement marking will go in after this work is
done. Doug inquired as to the intersection of Woburn/Winthrop/Mass Ave. The
SB has a quote of $70k for resurfacing “a band-aid worth doing.” Needs to know
by next Tuesday (due to weather window) if can be done this fall. John indicated
that a week’s worth of prep is needed in order to repave. The bike node is almost
complete.
The Bikeway kiosk: Dave Pinsonneault joined us – he met with the designer to
chat about the bike node kiosk – still in process. The Bike Committee has looked
at multiple kiosks – symbols only, no business names, QR code that will link to
business names. There was some discussion of what information will go on the
kiosk, the icons have not yet been pinned down. Fred noted that the kiosk could
be business specific if electronic. Dave indicated that there are no funds to do
this. An electronic sign is $65k. The funding in place will not pay for a e-sign. The
cool looking bench will be unwrapped after the skateboard deterrents are
installed. Which will be shortly. Trash pickup is now back to Monday through
Friday in the Center. No weekend pickup.
Dave noted that DPW has a TM article for bricking the back sidewalks on both
sides of Emery Park, Merriam Street to the alley, and Edison Way and concrete on
