It should be fairly simple to get the information uploaded, but we need to decide
just what we want to show. Mike will forward us some background to explore the setup.
●Peggy is now officially representing GCC on the WalkMassachusetts network.
●Keith has been adjusting ACROSS signs as he sees the need on his walks. Most are now done, but keep an
eye out.
●The Program Improvement Request funds for FY23 currently have a remainder of about $1500 since design
expenses for the recent brochure were lower than expected. We should spend the money, or it will
“disappear”. We need to update some of the wayfinding signs. We need some more brochure holders. Keith
has applied for PIR funds for FY24 to cover more route materials and brochures.
Current Business:
●Future ACROSS route possibilities - the Concord Ave/Western Greenway/Hayden Woods connection may
be feasible in the spring/summer of 2024. We need the Conservation Dept to give the go-ahead for the Land
Management Plan for the “Concord Ave parcel” and it is likely that we will be able to do that beginning in
July 2023.
●Discussion of Route 4 options. This is the Paint Mine/Wright Farm/Landlocked Forest route. The section of
the current route through the end of Rangeway Rd is awkward and potentially very wet. Is there a good way
to re-route it? Decision was made to wait until spring and review the situation at what is typically the wettest
time of year.
●Discussion of Route 19 options. This would connect Route G and Arlington Great Meadow via the
Harrington School. Stephen brought up the potential Mystic River Watershed Assoc. project as something to
consider. That project is currently not funded, but would necessitate trail diversions as they create a flood
control basin behind the Harrington School. We also looked at route options through Emerson Gardens,
Countryside Village, and around Pheasant Brook Pond.
●Another site walk will be conducted in the Harrington School area in the near future, as this route seems
more feasible to pursue at this time. A draft map should be completed before the December 8 meeting, for
discussion at that time.
