LEXINGTON HISTORICAL COMMISSIOI <br /> MINUTES <br /> March 19, 1980 <br /> The Lexington Historical Commission held its monthly <br /> meeting in the Town Office Building, convening at 7:30 P.M. , <br /> March 19, 1980. Members present were Anne Grady, Sara <br /> Chase, Bebe Fallick, Nnd John Orcutt. <br /> The meeting agenda moved immediately to the special <br /> topic of the evettng, the fate of the so-called Red. Cross <br /> Building and nearby barn. John Packard of the Historic <br /> District Commission, along with Larry Whipple, Dick More- <br /> house, and Wilbur Jaquith, presented salient material : <br /> 1 . the HDC, while not yet obtaining an injunction <br /> to prevent demolition, is counting on cooperation from <br /> the Selectmen in terms of a commitment to letting some <br /> time pass before any decisions are made, so that some <br /> alternatives to demolition can be investigated; there was <br /> some speculation that the Two Building Inspector needed <br /> to condemn the building to protect the Twonn interests <br /> should anyone get hurt due to the building's present <br /> condition <br /> 2, the history of the house, both interns of its <br /> past owners and inhabitants and interms of 'own action. <br /> to keep it up, was presented from. Lexington Historical <br /> Society and Lexington Historic District Commission files <br /> 3. some prospects for bank funding of rehab work, <br /> of use as scattered site subsidized housing, and as an. <br /> object of interest to "This Old House" program director <br /> Russell Morash, were mentioned. <br /> It was agreed that the Lexington Historical Commission would <br /> lead a committee composed of representatives of the HDC, <br /> the Historical Society, and the Commission itself to develop <br /> further plans to save the Red Cross Building and barn. <br /> Member Norma Bogen, whose term is expiring, has asked <br /> not to serve again. <br /> Anne Grady was unanimously and enthusiastically vtted <br /> Chairwoman of the Commission. <br /> There being no further business, the meeting was <br /> adjourned. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Sara B.
