Lexington Historical Commission Minutes September 13 , 1979 The Lexington Historical Commission met at 7 : 30 P . M. on September 13 , ;1979. Members present were Norma Bogen, Sara Chase, and Anne Grady. Minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Sara Chase presented a copy of the final report from Sandy Matathia of Jason Cortell Associates, which describes certain historical and architectural features of Lexington potent- ially affected by the proposed storm sewer construction. AnneGrady and Bebe Fallick, who helped in preparation of information for the report will review it. Anne Grady will notify the POnns and other East Lexington residents of certification of the East Lexington Historic District for Tax Reform Act purposes . She reported that some additional inventory .forms for East Lexington properties have turned up. The Commission decided to re-apply to the National Trust for a summer intern to work towar. ,d veloping a preservation plan or Lexington. _n will look into this 49`'•-' _4- a, r;,. �� make inquiries regarding future possibilities for CDBG grants or low interest loans for preserving older structures for housing. A question was raised concerning the appropriateness of the Historical Commission' s taking a position on and issuing a public statement on subdividing larger older houses for multiple-family residences . It was' felt that such a concept should be made part of the preservation plan. Ms . Grady mentioned, that• she .had been interviewed by Norma Goffstein of The Independent and had discussed the purposes of the Commission with her. For the remainder of 1979-80 , it was decided, the responsibilities of chairing the Commission will be divided, with Ms. Grady running the meetings and dispensing infor- mation, and Ms. Chase writing the minutes and Annual Report.
