THE LEXINGTON HISTORICAL COMMISSION <br /> LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02173 <br /> MEETING <br /> November 9, 1978 , 7: 30 p .m. , Town Office Building , Room 111. <br /> Present: Sara Chase , Chair; Anne Grady, Norma Bogen. <br /> Visitor - Joan Webber (Part of meeting) . <br /> MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the meeting of October 12 were read and accepted. <br /> APPLICATION FOR NATIONAL TRUST INTERN <br /> LHC has submitted an application to the National Trust for a <br /> summer intern who would assist the Commission in the <br /> preparation of a Preservation Plan for Lexington. The proposal, <br /> prepared by Bogen in consultation with Chase , would require <br /> authorization from the town to use 5810 of the Commission's <br /> funds (part from FY79 funds and part from FY80) as matching funds . <br /> LHC will be notified by the Trust by December 4 as to the Trust" s <br /> decision on the Lexington proposal . <br /> EDUCATION PROGRAM <br /> The Commission received a letter from Dallas Gale of Lexington <br /> High School which had been sent to Betty Amadon expressing interest <br /> in the American Heritage Education Program. LHC (Chase) will <br /> send a letter to Amadon offering support. <br /> ANNUAL REPORT <br /> Anne Grady will prepare a summary of the activities of the <br /> past year for the Town Report . <br /> DISCUSSION WITH LHC CANDIDATE <br /> Members of the Commission discussed with Joan Webber her <br /> interest in the open LHC position. Webber has assisted in the <br /> Lexington inventory and has served as a volunteer for Munroe and <br /> Buckman Taverns -- assisting in painting and maintaining the signs <br /> in particular. She is also the author of two publications <br /> pertaining to old houses and structures . <br /> LHC OPENING <br /> The Commission(Chase) will submit the names of Bebe Fallick <br /> and Joan Webber to the Town Manager for the open position on <br /> the Commission. <br /> SLIDE COLLECTION <br /> Chase will donate her slides of Hancock School to the Commission. <br /> This will represent the initiation of the Commission's slide <br /> collection. <br />
