THE LEXINGTON HISTORI :.AL COMMISSION <br /> LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02173 <br /> MEETING <br /> October 12, 1978 , 7: 30 p.m. , Town Office Building, Room 111 . <br /> Present: Sara Chase , Chair; Norma Bogen, Betty Reinhardt ( serving <br /> until a replacement has been designated) . Visitor - Bebe Fallick. <br /> MINUTES <br /> The minutes of the meeting of September 14 were read and accepted. <br /> NATIONAL TRUST d'J0RKSHOP <br /> Anne Grady was not able to attend the annual meeting of the Trust <br /> ( October 11-15) because of her unexpected hospitalization. <br /> DISCUSSION WITH LHC CANDIDATE <br /> Commission members discussed with Bebe Fallick her interest as <br /> a candidate for the open LEO position. Fallick has a continuing <br /> interest in architecture and historic preservation as well as a <br /> background in education. She has taken courses in architectural <br /> history, has served as a walking tour guide in Boston, and has <br /> assisted in Lexington 's inventory. <br /> Members of the Commission pointed out the importance of completing <br /> the Town's inventory and the desirability of having a member with <br /> time and the interest in making a major effort in this direction. <br /> MEETING WITH MHC STAFF <br /> It was noted that Chase , Reinhardt, and Bogen met with MHC staff <br /> on October 4 to inspect the Joseph Bridge house as a potential <br /> National Register property and to take a general tour of Lexington. <br /> GRANT PROPOSAL:EDUCATION <br /> A letter was received from Betty Amadon requesting support for a <br /> grant proposal to the National Endowment for the Arts for an <br /> educational program in the high schools that would provide for <br /> the integration of social and architectural history. This is <br /> a three year program. Four towns have been selected for year 1 , <br /> and eight will be selected for year 2. <br /> Reinhardt will get in touch with the curriculum enrichment person <br /> (Ms. Dallas Gale) in the high school to offer LEO support. <br /> NATIONAL TRUST INTERN <br /> A letter was received from the National Trust decribing the <br /> Summer Intern program and inviting applications . LHC would be <br /> obligated to pay half the Intern's salary or $810 . It was de- <br /> cided to explore this further and Bogen will contact Town Mgr. <br /> Hutchinson to determine the possibility of obtaining funds from <br /> the town for this purpose . <br />
