LEXINGTON HISTORICAL COMMISSION <br /> MEETING <br /> Room G15 December 15, 1975 <br /> Lexington Town Office Building 7:30 P.M. <br /> Voting Members Present: Donna Brown, Anne Grady, Richard Morehouse <br /> Elizabeth Reinhardt, Thomas Taylor. <br /> Public Participants: Invitations were extended to homeowners in the <br /> Battle Green District. <br /> Mr. Harry Erickson and Mr. Larry Larsen rep- <br /> resenting the Masonic Temple Trustees. <br /> Mr. Outerbridge, Goodwin Road"Italianade" <br /> Mr. Peterson from Church of Our Redeemer <br /> Mrs. Audrey Buttaro, Bowman Tavern. <br /> Mr. & Mrs. Bachman and Mrs. Perkins Repres- <br /> enting the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter <br /> Day Saints. <br /> Mrs. Mary Bailey of the First Parish Church <br /> Mr. Robert Hilton of the Lexington Cary Library <br /> Mrs. Joseph Nye, 1932 Mass. Ave. (next to the <br /> Hancock Church) <br /> Mrs. Weerts of 1906 Mass, Ave. <br /> Ms. Judy Dobbs from Massachusetts Historical <br /> Commission. <br /> At 7:35 P.M. the meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Elizabeth Reinhardt. <br /> The members of the Lexington Historical Commission were introduced to the guests <br /> and the guests were asked to introduce themselves and locate their particular <br /> properties. <br /> Ms. Judy Dobbs was introduced and described the purpose of the Massachusetts <br /> Historical Commission. In an explanation of the aspects of the National Reg- <br /> ister Program Ms. Dobbs described the three main parts to be; Recognition, <br /> Protection, and Funding. <br /> Our guests expressed their concerns and questions as to the National Register <br /> Status and its effect on their particular properties. <br /> The advantages and disadvantages were discussed as to being designated as a <br /> National Register property and it was generally agreed that the advantages far <br /> out weighed the few disadvantages. <br /> The procedure for making application was described and it was suggested that <br /> the property owned should be prepared to pay for the cost of the two 8X10 <br /> pictured of the Major facade and three of the 3X5 remaining sides. These would <br /> be black and white photographs and must be submitted with each application. <br /> Some of the property owners expressed concern as to the length of time before <br /> funds may be available to them for necessary repairs to thOir properties. It <br /> was agreed that applications should be made as soon as possible. <br /> The regular meeting was adjourned at 8:50 P.M. <br /> The Commission agreed to meet in Executive Session at 9:05 P.M. for the purpose <br /> of resolving financial procedures matters. <br /> 9:20 P.M, A report of the Historic District Hearing on the Smith Condominiums <br /> in East Lexington was discussed, The question was discuswed as to whether or not <br /> we should form an opinion as a Commission. Mrs. Reinhardt expressed the regret <br /> that the new design presented by Royal Barry Wills Arch. is taken from the Royal <br />
