Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex250) <br />September 28, 2022 Meeting Minutes <br />Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk, the Semiquincentennial Commission <br />(Lex250) convened in a meeting via Zoom video conference on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 <br />at 3:30 pm as allowed by legislation (S.2475) extending the suspension of certain provisions of <br />the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. <br />Present:Steve Conners (Reenactment Community), Cerise Jalelian (Town Celebrations <br />Committee Representative), Mona Roy (Community Representative), Jillian Tung (Music & Arts <br />Representative), Bebe Fallick (Tourism Committee Representative), Barry Cunha (Business <br />Representative), Suzie Barry (Select Board Member), Julie O’Leary (Civic Representative), <br />Cerise Jalelian (Town Celebrations Committee Representative), Paul O’Shaughnessy (Historical <br />Organization Representative) <br />The meeting was called to order at 3:30 pm by Ms. Barry. <br />1.A motion to approve minutes of the 9.14.2022 meeting was made by Ms. Barry, seconded <br />by Ms. Roy, and approved by roll call vote. <br />2.Community engagement/Lex 250 kick off meeting <br />a.Wednesday, October 12, 10:00 am and 7:00 pm in Cary Library Living Room <br />b.Invitations <br />i.Ms. Roy provided an update on the invitations being sent to community <br />members and stakeholders <br />ii.Ms. Roy asked Commission members to follow up with invitees by email. <br />iii.Ms. O’Leary created a flyer to help publicize the meeting. <br />c.Format <br />i.Welcome, video, overview of working groups, Patriots Day weekend <br />activities, Q&A <br />ii.Ms. Fallick suggested that we clarify meaning of 250th in the introduction <br />iii.Ms. Tung will bring buttons for distribution and suggested having the flyer <br />on hand <br />iv.Next meeting on October 5 will be devoted to planning kick off meeting <br />3.Working Groups update <br />i.Community Engagement: Ms. Fallick, Ms. O’Leary, Ms. Tung <br />1.Ms. Tung provided an overview of goals <br />2.Ms. Barry asked us to be mindful of the distinction between <br />Town-sponsored events and community-partnered events. She <br />suggested that organizations and individuals who would like to be <br />on the calendar fill out a form to include information including <br />how the activity relates to Lex 250, whether dignitaries are <br />involved <br />3.Ms Barry suggested additional organizations who might be <br />resources for activities, including Department of Recreation, Town <br />Staff, Cary Library, Community Center, and others
