LEXINGTON CENTER COMMIT <br /> Minutes - 3/5/87 <br /> Present: Marge Battin, Chairman, Bill Bowen, Norma Bogen, Marian Powell, <br /> Carla Fortmann, Leo McSweeney (Selectman Liaison), Angela Frick <br /> MAPC/Observer) <br /> Absent: Bob Ossman (Excused), Dave Wells, Mary Hastings <br /> Minutes of 2/4/87 approved as amended. <br /> Police Booth • <br /> The Selectman have approved as proposed, but to be set back between 18 and 36 <br /> inches from the curb: and with a Dutch Door to be located on the east side, with <br /> an opening window on the front to be determined. <br /> Drive Way at 1775 and Bay Bank <br /> The one way proposed was accepted by the Selectman, with a No Left Turn sign to <br /> bar traffic turning across Mass Avenue: this change to be reviewed after 6 months <br /> to determine any problems. The entire street to be One Way; Bank parking spaces <br /> to be painted/marked diagonally, with traffic flow. <br /> New Building in Center <br /> Nothing to report at this meeting. <br /> There was a discussion regarding excess traffic speed and jaywalking rules for <br /> the Center to be enforced. Leo McSweeney suggested these points and other rules <br /> proposed or on the books to be presented to the Selectman at a future meeting; <br /> an article in the paper on these points and caution signs in the Center were also <br /> discussed. <br /> Chris Venier cannot make the noon meeting times - another businessman to replace <br /> him will be dragooned by Bill Bowen and Dave Wells. <br /> The Design Advisory Committee will coordinate standardized signs to be located <br /> through the Center area. <br /> Discussed removing one parking meter oneerriam Street. <br /> There was a review discussion regarding Prior-Approved proposals of the earlier <br /> CRC and Selectman points 1 thru 14, as outlined on pgs. 35 & 36 in the Lexington <br /> Center: Managing Change Report. It was recommended to implement all of these actions <br /> (not yet completed) as listed in the Report. <br /> It was suggested by Bill Bowen that the Committee members individually acquaint <br /> themselves with the new Orange/Sodium street lights recently installed on Mass. Ave. <br /> in Arlington; and examine the existing 12 light fixtures on the brick sidewalk <br /> between Edison Way and Depot Square, with a further discussion to follow at the <br /> March meeting. <br />
