2008 Minuteman Cane Award Committee Meeting
Monday, April 7, 2008
2 PM in Town Hall, Room 111

Present were Dot Boggia, Chairman, Charlie Price, Marie Hill, Lodia Parilla, Sheldon
Spector, Shirley Stolz, Dick Michelson, Lillian McArthur, David Williams, and Beverly
Kelley. All members of the committee were present.

The meeting was called to order at 2:05. The minutes of the February 11, 2008 meeting
th
were amended. The change was in the 4 paragraph and instead of the word “winner” it
should be the word “recipients.” The change was noted and the minutes were accepted.

The party for this year’s recipient will be combined with a party for the recipient of the
2008 White Tricorn Hat award. The Lions Club will sponsor the event which will be
held on Sunday, May 4, 2008 from 2-4 PM at the Depot. The expenses for food,
beverages and decorations will be shared between the Lions Club and the COA. Dot and
Dick will coordinate the reception.

We then began the process of discussing the eight nominees and we did so in alphabetical
order. The nominees were Jim Barry, Barbara Ciampa, Robert Edwards, Dan Fenn, Jr.,
Carolyn Louise Feldman, Phyllis Rand, Jackie Ward and Anne Williamson. There was a
lively discussion with good questions and comments. A confidential paper vote was then
called for and the results were tallied outside of the room by Sheldon Spector and Marie
Hill.

The recipient of the 2008 Minuteman Cane Award was Barbara Ciampa. Jackie Ward
was the first runner-up and Dan Fenn, Jr. was the second runner-up. David Williams and
Dot Boggia will inform Barbara of the honor.

The meeting adjourned at 3 PM.

Respectfully Submitted by Beverly Kelley, Secretary
April 7, 2008
