2008 Minuteman Cane Award Committee Report
Monday, February 11, 2008
2 PM in Town Hall, Room 111

Present were Dot Boggia, Sheldon Spector, Dick Michelson, Lillian McArthur, Marie
Hill and Beverly Kelley and our newest member Art Katz. Absent were Lodia Parilla,
Shirley Stolz , David Williams and Charlie Price.

Dot Boggia brought the meeting to order at 2:05. Everything is in place for this year.
Dot submitted the article regarding this year’s award to the Senior Center Newsletter and
th
the Lexington Minuteman will also begin running it soon and will do so until March 26.
Applications will be distributed to Theatre Pharmacy, Michelson’s Shoes, The Town
Clerk’s Office and the Senior Center. It was suggested that Dot also send the information
to the Colonial Times for Jim Shaw to include in his paper.

The Cane is in Dot’s hands, thanks to Chris Venier, and it will be engraved by Bromac
st
when the winner is chosen. The parade this year is on Monday, April 21.

Dick Michelson suggested that the recipient of the Cane and the White Tricorn Hat
winner be honored together at the Depot. It would be the start of a new tradition. The
Lions Club would like to sponsor this event and it was unanimously approved as a great
th
idea. It will be on Sunday, April 27, from 2-4 PM. Dick will get final approval
tomorrow night from the Lions Club. Dick and Dot will coordinate the reception.

The deadline for applications this year is Friday, March 27 at 4PM at the Senior Center.

th
Our next meeting is April 7 at 2 PM in Room 111.

Respectfully submitted by Beverly Kelley, Secretary
