2005 Minuteman Cane Award Committee Report
Monday, April 4, 2005
2 P.M. in Room 111- Town Hall

Members present were Chairperson Dot Boggia, Sheldon Spector, Marie Hill, David
Williams, Larry Whipple and Beverly Kelley. Members absent were Lodia Parilla and
Dick Michelson.

We met for our second and last meeting of 2005 and reviewed the nominations of five
candidates but we had to discount two of them as they had not lived in Lexington for at
least 15 years as is stipulated in the rules. The committee then read over and discussed
each of the other three candidates.

The three nominees were Julian Bussgang, Dan Fenn and Don Graham. After
considerable discussion, a vote was taken and Don Graham was the winner of the 2005
Minuteman Cane Award.

Dot Boggia, being the committee’s chairperson, contacted Don to tell him the good news!
Don and his wife Hazel rode in the convertible during the Patriot’s Day afternoon parade.

The party to honor Don was held on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 2 P.M. at the Senior
Center. Members of the committee helped Dot Boggia with the reception which was
attended by about 60 people, including several past winners. Dot read the list of the past
winners and spoke briefly about each one and then introduced Don, who was attending
with his wife Hazel. Don was very gracious in his acceptance. Following the formalities,
beverages, desserts, fruit and cake were enjoyed by everyone.

The meeting of April 4, 2005 adjourned at approximately 3 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted,

Beverly Kelley
Secretary
May 5, 2005
