2004 Minuteman Cane Award Committee Report
Monday, April 5, 2004 at 2 P.M.
Room 111 Town Hall

We met for the second time this year to review the 2004 nominations and choose a
recipient.

Members present were Chairperson Dot Boggia, Sheldon Spector, Larry Whipple, Lodia
Parilla, Neil Cronin, David Williams, Horace Besecker, Bill Wildes, Beverly Kelley and
new member Dick Michelson. Member absent was new member Marie Hill.

Dot, our chairperson, welcomed our new member Dick Michelson and lamented the
absence of the other new member, Marie Hill, who was recovering from an accident.
Both new members have been officially appointed by Town Manager Rick White. We
now have 11 members. This was Horace’s last meeting as he was the recipient 2 years
ago and therefore his term is up this year. In 2005 the committee will have 10 members
as Dot is already a member.

The party to honor this year’s recipient will be on Monday, May 10 at the Senior Center
at 2 P.M. Lodia and Beverly will do most of the preparation but may call on other
members of the committee to help.

We then began the discussion about this year’s nominations. There were three- Dot
Boggia, Julian Bussgang and Don Graham. We discussed all three, with Dot excusing
herself while we discussed her nomination. Sheldon Spector took over as acting chair
during Dot’s absence. The voting then took place. Bill and Beverly tallied the results.
Dot Boggia was voted the 2004 Minuteman Cane Award recipient.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 3:15 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted,

Beverly Kelley
Secretary
April 5, 2004
