Miss Small, former <br /> clerk, has left the employ of the School Department and in her place <br /> they have a new girl, starting at X21.00 Per week and the second <br /> new girl starting at ';19.00 per week. <br /> Teachers - High - This year the request is for ,„ 90,601.30 <br /> against ',90,003.66. There is the same number of teachers as last <br /> year, except that three or four of the men teachers have been re-- <br /> placedby women teachers. <br /> Teachers - Elementary - This year the request is for <br /> 69, 95°.44 whith includes the annual increases against last year' s <br /> request of ,65,682.00. r'r. Anes stated that they had to raise the <br /> low salaried teachers to the new minimum scale. <br /> Teachers - Special - This year's request is for )7,005.22 <br /> against u:5,478.50. One teacher nor listed under Special was not so <br /> listed before. <br /> Teachers - Substitutes - This year' s request is for <br /> x:1,500.00 against :;800.00. Five hundred dollars is for payment to <br /> teachers leaving within the year due to the fact that they receive <br /> their compensation over a twelve-month period instead of the Previous <br /> ten-month period. <br /> Mr. Ames requested a :' 250.00 increase` for men teachers <br /> now at their maximum. The maximum salary is :; 2,500.00 plus the <br /> 1250.00, making the new maximum x2,750.00. <br /> Yr. Ames also requested' a :400.00 increase for the women <br /> teachers now at the maximum of ,il, 800.00 and n>l, 900.00 per year. <br /> This ` would increase the new maximum to 11,900.00 and ,;)2,000.00 per <br /> year. <br /> The increases are to be effective ' as of January 1, 1944, <br /> and are so figured in the budgets submitted. <br /> There are twenty-one women teachers now' at their maximum <br /> rho would benefit by raising the maximum salaries. <br /> The increases affect mostly the teachers in the Elementary <br /> Schools. <br /> T.Mr. Fred C . Newhall asked Thr. Ames about T,Messrs. Abel and <br /> Cooper rho are both coaches. He ranted to know whether their sala- <br /> ries included compensation for coaching. <br /> Mr. Ames stated that 500.00 of the increase in the high <br /> School - Teachers salaries is for extra compensation for coaching. <br />
