497 <br /> December 28, 1964 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met on Monday evening, December 28, 1964 in <br /> the office of the Town Accountant. <br /> Present: J. Harper Blaisde11,-Chairman <br /> Frank T. Parrish Jr. Richard H. Battin <br /> Oscar R. Carlson Robert M. Gary <br /> Mrs. Richard W. Souza Donald P. Noyes <br /> Raymond L. White, Secretary <br /> 1-4 Mr. Alfred Gray enterec9 our meeting and spoke about requesting approval <br /> CD of $4:0.00 fromthe Reserve Fund to Accounting Department for the purchase of <br /> "It a new typewriter; also requesting approval of $2,300.00 from the Reserve Fund <br /> namely; Accounting Department $400.00 and Selectmen Department $2,300.00. <br /> Our chairman stated that there is approximately 31- million increase in <br /> valuation making the total Town valuation approximately 177 million. <br /> Actual .1964 excise tax is $725,000. plus receipts on 1963 excise tax, the <br /> total to date being $808,000.00. <br /> The corporation income tax, last year was approximately $64,000.00 in out <br /> favor. <br /> The school department will turn back this year approximately $100.000. <br /> Mrs. Elizabeth Clarke, Chairman, Rev. Harold T. Handley and Karl E. <br /> Nyren of the Library Trustees entered our meeting at 8:00 P. M. to discuss <br /> and go over their budgets. <br /> Cary Library, Personal Services - Page No. 7500, Mr. Nyren stated that <br /> $7,000.00 in the budget is for one additional employee. The appropriation <br /> will be $140,311.00 as $3,000.00 will be deducted for the amount received <br /> from State Aid. <br /> Cary Library Expenses - Page No. 7550, Increase in books and periodicals <br /> by $5, 100.00. Fines collected by the Library; such receipts are turned over <br /> to the Library Trustees. <br /> Loss of books; etc amounts to approximately $2,000.00 a year. <br /> Mr. Nyran stated that recataloging is approximately 60% done. <br /> Circulation is on the increase as more adults are using the Library. <br /> Mr. Nyren stated that there would be a separate article for changes on <br /> front entrance of Library. <br /> The Library budget has increased between 7 and 8 per cent. <br /> At 9: 15 P. M. William P. Fitzgerald, Stanley E. Robbins and J. S. Nason. <br /> Whitney, Fire Commissioner. <br />
