. 54 <br /> December 30, 1963 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met Monday, December 30, 1963 at 7:30 P.M. <br /> in the office of the Town Accountant. <br /> Present: Donald P, Noyes, Chairman <br /> Richard H. Battin J. Harper Blaisdell <br /> John R. Bevan Logan ularke Jr. <br /> Oscar R. Carlson Robert H. Kingston <br /> Frank T. Parrish Jr. Raymond L. White, Secretary <br /> Ralph B. Fifield Jr. Telephoned that he would not be present as he <br /> was still home with the cold. <br /> The First business to come before this meeting was requests for trans- <br /> fer of $2,500.00 from the Reserve Fund to Public Welfare Aid and Expenses and <br /> Y a request for a transfer of '500.00 from the Reserve fund to Veterans Benefits, <br /> ,4 Aid and Expenses account. <br /> A motion was made, seconded and voted to transfer the sum of $3,000. 00 <br /> from the Reserve Fund to Publice welfare Aid and xpenses $2,500.00: and Veter- <br /> ans Benefits, Aid and Expenses *500.00. <br /> Donald P. Noyes, Chairman stated that the following sub divisions of <br /> Article 4 has increased in this years budget by the following amounts: <br /> General Government 2,768.00 <br /> Protection of Persons & PropertY72,296.00 <br /> Public Services 211, 121.00 <br /> Education 581,982.00 <br /> Library 34,337.00 <br /> Public Welfare & Benefits 11,279.00 <br /> Cemeteries 4,600.00 <br /> Debt 217i000.00 <br /> $1,135,,383.00 <br /> The total of all budgets submitted to date amount to the sum of <br /> $5,229, 103.94. Budget not included are Law Department, Personal Services, <br /> Special Fees and Expenses; School Department, all of their budgets. <br /> At 8:03 P.M. Rev. Harold T. Handley, Karl Nyren and William F. Buckley <br /> of the Library entered our meeting to go over their budget. Karl Nyren stated <br /> that the East Lexington Branch Library needs to be painted and would cost <br /> approximately $3,000.00 and if we used aluminum siding it would cost us not <br /> much more. <br /> At 8: 15 P. M. Mr Gray enterd our meeting to ask for 48,500.00 from <br /> our Reserve Fund to Snow Removal. We told him we only had $ 8,353.07 in the <br /> Reserve Account. The chairman suggested that we could transfer 8,000.00 from <br /> our Reserve Fund tothe Snow Removal account. A motion was made, seconded and <br /> voted ' to transfer the sum of 8,000.00 from the Reserve Fund to Snow Removal <br /> account. After the vote Mr. Gray left our meeting. <br /> Mr. Nyren answered our question on State Aid to Library and said the <br /> money from the State was to improve Library services. <br /> Exhibits & Publicaty 4475.00 in their budget is to indentify things they <br /> buy. The overall increase looks like approximately 15%. <br />
