4 <br /> December 3, 1963 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met Monday, December 2, 1963 at 7:.45 P. <br /> in the office of the Town Accountant . <br /> Present: Donald P. Noyes, Chairman <br /> J. Harper Blaisdell Oscar R. Carlson <br /> Robert H. Kingston Frank T. Parrish Jr. <br /> Raymond L. Whitey Secretary <br /> At 8:30 P.M. we went down stairs to the Board of Selectmen's meeting as <br /> they were having an informal meeting with the School Committee. <br /> Mr. Lincoln P. Cole Jr. Chairman of the Board of Selectmen opened the <br /> meeting andsaid that this was an informal meeting to see if we could hold <br /> the tax rate where it is. <br /> Mr. Sanborn C. Brown, chairman of the school committee spoke and said <br /> they had not voted on the final budget yet, but the total amount cut out of <br /> the budget was $310.688.00 and the budget estimated for this coming year is <br /> 54,877.337.00 which represents a 12,9% increase over the 1963 budget. The <br /> Percentage increase in pupils is L..6%. A nine million increase in valuation <br /> of real estate. <br /> The question was asked about securing teachers and 1'r. .Brown stated <br /> there was no problem getting teachers, but it was difficult finding competent <br /> teachers. <br /> Joint meeting with Selectmen, School Committee and Appropriation <br /> Committee adjourned at 9:15 P.M. <br /> The Appropriation Committee then returned upstairs to their meeting. <br /> They looked over the Health Department budgets and it was decided to <br /> invite Rufus L. Mc Quillan chairman to attend our next meeting of December <br /> 9th at 8100. l'.1I. <br /> Al o,, rf possible, we are going to try to arrange to have the Board <br /> of Fire ommissioners at this meeting at 8:30 P. M. to go over their budgets. <br /> The secretary to Colby E. Kelly, chairman or his secretary, and have <br /> Recreation expense budget sheets changed, one sheet for ordinary expense <br /> items and another sheet for so-called capital expenditure items. <br /> Meeting adjourned at l0:35 P.M. <br /> Raymond L.
