443 <br /> October 15, 1963 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met Monday, October 14, 1963 in the office <br /> of the Town Accountant. <br /> — Present: Donald P. Noyes, Chairman <br /> Ralph B. Fifield Jr.. Oscar R. Carlson <br /> Robert H. Kingston J. Harper Blaisdell <br /> Richard H. Battin Frank T. Parrish Jr. <br /> Raymond L. White, Secretary <br /> Logan Clarke Jr. telephoned that he was in bed with a cold so could <br /> not be present. <br /> John R. Bevan telephoned that he was going to Philadelphia tonight <br /> ‹• on business. <br /> Mr. Alfred Gray, Executive Assistant entered our meeting at 8:20 P.M. <br /> to speak about an office building on Worthern Road. A pumping station will <br /> be necessary to take care of this building and other buildings in this section <br /> and $10,000 will be necessary to be taken out of free cash before the Town <br /> meeting. <br /> The Board of Selectmen wanted to know how we felt and if we would go <br /> along with them. This Committee aproves. <br /> The Board of Selectmen requests a transfer of $706.62 from our Reserve <br /> Fund to 'Selectmen Department — Expense account as per their letter of October <br /> 8, 1963. A motion was made, seconded and voted to transfer $706. 62 from our <br /> Reserve Fund to Selectmen' s Expense account. <br /> The Board of Selectmen requests a transfer of $200.00 from our Reserve <br /> Fund to Fire Department, Ambulance 11aintenance Account. <br /> John Blaisdell spoke in general on Garbage Collection Present contract <br /> for $38,000.00 expires May 1, 1964. If contract is to be $50,00 a year, <br /> then the question is whether we should go into municipal collections. Garbage <br /> is a function of the Selectmen. Trucks would cost at least $6,000.00 each. <br /> Donald Noyes to contract John Carroll to arrange a meeting for this <br /> committee to meet with us. <br /> Remainder-, for Donald Noyes to ask John Carrott about street Maintenance. <br /> Civil Defense: Question is "What is the program" Get something on paper. <br /> John Blaisdell spoke again about charging for snow removal in church <br /> yard. <br /> Richard Battin entered this meeting at 9:30 p.m. after having met <br /> with the School on their 1964 budget and spoke on the following:: <br /> Present teacher's staff will increase $280,000.00 <br /> Out of state travel will be $16,000.00 <br /> Mr. Irving H Mabee of the Planning entered our meeting to talk <br /> about a planner to replace Samuel Snow.
