September 23, 1963`Q r) <br /> The Appropriation Committee met Monday, September 23, 1963 at 7:30 <br /> - P. M. in the office of the Town Accountant to act on requests for <br /> expenditures from the Reserve Fund. <br /> Present: Donald P. Noyes, Chairman <br /> J. Harper Blaisdell Frank T. Parrish, Jr. <br /> John R. Bevan Oscar R. Carlson <br /> Robert H. Kingston Ralph B. Fifield, Jr. <br /> c Richard H. Battin Raymond L. White, Secretary <br /> �- Mrs. Logan Clarke Jr. telephoned and said Logan was ill and would <br /> not be present at this meeting. <br /> p w.q <br /> Mr. Willard P. Grush, Chairman, John F. McCurdy, Edward J. Gildea <br /> and Cornelius P. Cronin of the Board of Assessors arrived at our <br /> meeting at 7:40 P. M. Mr. Grush spoke on their request of $1,000.00 <br /> for extra personal service and said an additional clerk in the <br /> department is much needed. Mr. Grush stated that 90% of the tax bills <br /> will be out immediately for collection. The remaining bills will not <br /> be out until late in October 1963. John Blaisdell stated there is a <br /> definite need for more help in the Assessors: Department and we shall <br /> re-valuate the needs of this department. They do need another full <br /> time clerk, Cole-Layer cards are more work. Mr. Grush stated that <br /> when they get the backlog out of the way they can keep up with the <br /> field work. There is to be an additional $350.00 request in their <br /> budget for an Atlas. <br /> There were one hundred and thirty-eight new houses last year - 1962. <br /> Mr. Grush stated that there are sixty cases before the Appellate <br /> Tax Board. This is on farm property. <br /> The Board of Assessors left the meeting at $:45 P. M. <br /> The following requests were taken up: <br /> Board of Assessors' request for a transfer of $1,000.00 from the <br /> Reserve Fund to Assessors' Personal Services account. A motion was <br /> made by John Bevan, seconded by Frank Parrish and voted to transfer <br /> $1,000.00 from the Reserve Fund to Assessors' Personal Services account. <br /> The Board of Selectmen requested the Committee to transfer the <br /> sum of $50.00 from the Reserve Fund to Building Inspector's, Out of <br /> State 'Travel account. A motion was made by John Bevan and voted to <br /> transfer $50.00 from the Reserve Fund. <br /> The Board of Selectmen requested the Appropriation Committee to <br /> transfer the sum of $50.00 from the Reserve Fund to the Trustees of <br /> Public Trusts, Expense account so that the Trustees can register the <br /> coupon bonds held by them. A motion was made by Frank Parrish and <br /> voted to transfer $50.00 from the Reserve Fund to Trustees of Public <br /> Trusts Expense account. <br />
