II <br /> January 14, 1963 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met Monday evening January 1L , 1963 at 7:30 P. <br /> M. in the office of the Town Accountant. <br /> Logan Clarke Jr. , Chairman <br /> J. Harper Blaisdell, Vice Chairman Frank E. Douglas <br /> John R. Bevan Richard H. Battin <br /> Maurice F. Shaughnessy Robert H. Kingston <br /> Raymond L. White, Secretary <br /> Letter received from the Town Celebrations Committee requesting appropriation <br /> for financing the 250th Anniversary Celebration was read by our Chairman. <br /> It was stated that the Capital Expenditures were willing to stand one third <br /> :.-; of the cost for printing the combined annual report fo the Appropriation <br /> Committee and Capital Expenditures. <br /> The Board of Selectmen approved the „3,350.00 over and above Article <br /> which the Celebration Committee requested. Under Article 4 they are asking <br /> $5,000.00 from the Leroy S. Brown fund. <br /> Articles for the special town meeting of January 28, 1963 were next con- <br /> sidered. <br /> onsidered. <br /> Town Celebration Committee requesting $3,350.00 under Article Y5. <br /> Under Article 8 - Committee to make a study of the Historic Districts in <br /> the Town this committee approved $50.00 for expenses to be on the tax levy. <br /> " The chairman of this committee asked Dick Battin about any possible cuts <br /> in the School budgets. Mr. Battin stated that any cuts were left up to <br /> the School Department. Dick stated that the meetings with the School in <br /> themselves were not very beneficial. Frank Douglas and Richard Battin <br /> spoke in general of their meeting with the School Committee. <br /> The chairman stated we had to write two reports this year, one the special <br /> meeting in January, 1963 and the annual town meeting in March, 1963. <br /> Discussion was had reference to putting out Appropriation Committee report <br /> to bid as the Statute re-uires any item, if over 1,000.00 must be put out <br /> for bids. <br /> The chairman spoke in regards to Public Works budgets having one sum for <br /> all personal services. <br /> Weights and Measures - Personal Service budget, Item 29 A was examined. <br /> The proper figure is S1,490.25. <br /> Cary Memorial Library budget - Personal Services, Item 59 A was examined. <br /> Library is opened more hours which accounts for some of the income. The <br /> budget figure tentatively approved by this committee is $110,000. It <br /> was suggested to have the Library trustees meet with us to go over their <br /> budgets. <br /> Veterans Benefits - Personal Service budget, Item 65 A was examined. The <br /> correct figure is ;;2,971 .90 not "3,000.00. <br />
