December 11, 1961 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met Monday evening, December 11, 1961 at $:00 <br /> P. M. in the office of the Town Accountant. <br /> Present : J. Harper Blaisdell, Chairman <br /> Raymond L. White, Temp. Sec. Frank E. Douglas <br /> Alfred Viano Richard H. Battin <br /> Maurice F. Shaughnessy <br /> C. Roland Christensen telephone and said he would not be able to be at <br /> the meeting • <br /> . <br /> Mr. Blaisdell read a letter received from the Board of Assessors relative <br /> .�; to the new assessed valuation to be added as of January 1, 1962. Their <br /> estimate is $3,000,000. A previous letter from the Board of Assessors, <br /> dated May 3 , 1961, stated the assessed value was then 578,068,220.00 <br /> and the $3,000,000. added would make the present assessed valuation <br /> $$1,06$,220.00. <br /> A letter submitted to the Board of Selectmen from the Town Accountant <br /> and delivered in person by Mr. Frederick Staples, Executive Administrator, <br /> requesting a transfer from the Reserve Fund to the Accounting Department- <br /> Personal Services, in the amount of $1,576.$3 and Accounting Department- <br /> Expenses in the amount of S125.35. It was voted to transfer $1,702.1$ <br /> from the Reserve Fund to Accounting Department, Personal Services and <br /> Expenses. <br /> A letter from the Board of Selectmen requesting a transfer of $1,600.57 <br /> from the Reserve Fund to the Police Pension Account, due to the retirement <br /> of Officers John A. Russell and Edward J. Lennon and not sufficient funds <br /> — in the Police Pension Account to take care of December 31, 1961 payments. <br /> It was voted to transfer $1,600.57 from the Reserve Fund to Police Pension <br /> Account. <br /> The Board of Selectmen sent a note requesting a transfer from the Reserve <br /> Fund to Town Offices - Cary Memorial Building Expenses in the amount of <br /> $1,500.00 for boiler repairs. This Committee did not vote on this item <br /> until they receive more details on this expenditure. <br /> The Board of Health Committee were admitted to this meeting at $:20 P. M. <br /> Present were Rufus L. McQuillan, Chairman, Dr. William L. Cosgrove and J. <br /> West. <br /> The first budget considered was the Health Department Personal Services. <br /> It was stated that the Health Officer is doing a real good job and that <br /> he in fact is underpaid. He graduated from Northeastern University in <br /> August 1961 and received a Masters degree in Public Health Administration. <br /> T! clerk, mentioned in this budget, the Committee is asking for a <br /> substantial increase due to her ability and length of service. Mr. West <br /> stated that Whitman-Howard are called in on some of the cases. <br /> The Health Department-Expense budget was gone over and it was decided <br /> they would submit a new budget leaving out Out of State Travel in the <br /> amount of $150.00 but leave in Public Health Education for $150.00. <br /> Also submit an additional budget for Out of State Travel in the amount of <br /> $150.00. <br />
