2 October 30, 1961 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met Monday evening October 30, 1961 at 7:30 P. M. <br /> Present: J. Harper Blaisdell, Chairman <br /> Raymond L. White ,Temp Sec. Richard H. Battin <br /> Alfred Viana Logan Clarke, Jr. <br /> C. Roland Christensen John R. Bevan <br /> The Chairman of this Committee informed us that the Civil Defense <br /> representatives would not be here tonight because the Chairman, Arthur <br /> E. Burrell was out of town and the other two members of that Committee, <br /> Messrs. Enders and Roeder were not prepared to speak to our Committee. <br /> Mr. Blaisdell stated that the Civil Defense Committee is asking for <br /> $60,000 on four articles of the Warrant, Nos. 13 , 14, 15 , and 16. <br /> Mr. Blaisdell stated that it was reported that the schools had emergency - <br /> power plants, but in investigating it further it was found only the <br /> Diamond and Fiske schools had sufficient emergency plants. <br /> There was a general discussion on the warning system as to just what the <br /> Town was getting for a $40,000 expenditure. <br /> We then went over the Articles in the Warrant for the Special Town Meeting <br /> of November 6, 1961. <br /> Article 2 Supplementary Appropriation to be used by the Standing <br /> School Building Committee was approved. 815 ,000 from <br /> Middleby School, $15-,000 from E. & D. <br /> Article 3 No action, no money involved. <br /> Article 4 Fire Department, indefinite. <br /> ArticleSelectmen to use available funds. -- <br /> Article 6 Edison Way, $13,000 to be transferred from E & D. <br /> Article 7 Approved — S100. to be transferred from E & D. <br /> Article 8 No money involved. <br /> Article 9 Town Way <br /> Article 10 No action, no money involved. <br /> Article 11 No action, no money involved. . <br /> Article 12 No action, no money involved. <br /> Article 13 Indefinite postponement <br /> Article 14 Approved *500. , to be transferred from E. R. D. <br /> Article 15 Indefinite postponement. <br /> Article 16 Indefinite postponement. <br /> It was decided that this Committee meet on Thursday, November 2nd at 8;00 <br /> P. M. and request Mr. Burrell, Director of Civil Defense, be at this <br /> meeting to go over their requests. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 9:30 P. M. <br /> Messrs. Blaisdell, Battin and White then went into the Board of Selectmen's <br /> meeting and Mr. Blaisdell told the Board Of Selectmen the action taken on <br /> the articles for the Special Town Meeting. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Raymond L.
