9 <br /> September 25 , 1961 <br /> The Appropriation Committee met on September 25, 1961 at 8:00 P. M. in the <br /> office of the Town Accountant. <br /> Present: J. Harper Blaisdell, Chairman <br /> Raymond L. White Temp.Sec. Maurice F. Shaughnessy <br /> Frank E. Douglas C. Roland Christensen <br /> John R. Bevan Richard H. Battin <br /> Copies of the 1962 Budget Estimate Sheets on Expenses and Personal Services <br /> were passed out to the members for their examination and discussion <br /> The Chairman spoke about 4, 7, 8, 10 and 11-J on the sheet which <br /> C Mr. Shaughnessy prepared and passed out to members at the last meeting <br /> 1-4 of. this Committee. <br /> An additional item which the Chairman spoke about was the garbage disposal <br /> problem. Mr. Blaisdell stated that the Town of Winchester sell their <br /> Garbage for $2,400 and he suggested that we might want to consider <br /> collecting garbage ourselves as it might be cheaper. <br /> The Chairman then spoke about the '.cpropriation Committee calendar for <br /> the year 1961-1962, assuming that the Town Meeting would be March 19, 1962. <br /> After considerable discussion the following calendar was prepared for <br /> meetings of the Appropriation Committee and visitation with other <br /> Committees, Boards and Department heads as follows: <br /> October 23 , 1961 Meeting with Selectmen and <br /> Building Committee <br /> October 30, 1961 Town Meeting-Planning Board, <br /> Sewer & School Building <br /> November 20, 1961 Fire Commissioner - Civil Defense <br /> November 27, 1961 Assessors <br /> December 11, 1961 School Committee <br /> January 15 , 1962 Public Works - Selectmen <br /> January 22, 1962 Library Trustees <br /> February 5 , 1962 Stand Committee <br /> February 12 , 1962 By-Law Meeting <br /> March 19, 1962 Town Meeting <br /> The Chairman spoke about considering getting together with the Capital <br /> Expenditures Committee and suggested combining both reports. <br /> The Chairman suggested that the Appropriation Committee select the <br /> cover for their report in December and have it printed. The book covers <br /> and addressing can be done before the report is printed. He suggested <br /> that we have the Lexington Minuteman address covers alone. He also <br /> suggested mailing the Appropriation reports to the Town Meeting members <br /> first by First Class Mail. <br /> The Chairman stated that we were to require and receive seventeen copies <br /> of Budget requests. <br /> All budgets to come in one week earlier so they can be mailed out one <br /> week earlier. <br /> _ <br />
