' <br /> A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held on January <br /> 17, 1955 in the Conference R. om, Cary Memorial Building, with <br /> the following members present: <br /> Gardner Ferguson, Chairman <br /> Donald T. Clark John Biggs <br /> Leslie C. Read James V. MacDonald <br /> William Madden Austin W. FisherJr. <br /> Frank D. Walker, Sec. <br /> The Board of Fire Commissioners was present when the meeting <br /> opened and presented a letter from the Boston Fire Department <br /> stating that the present aerial ladder was unsafe and they <br /> would not test it . As the Board of Selectmen has thrown out <br /> the new aerial ladder, officially it is not under consideration. <br /> The School Committee came in at 0800 and we discussed only those <br /> items which we do not agree upon. They left at 9:20 and will <br /> notify us in writing as to their recommendations . <br /> The Appropriation Committee adjourned to the Selectmen's Office <br /> where a thorough and lengthy dissitation on the #5 vs #2 oil <br /> burner in the library 'took place. <br /> We covered most of the budgets relative to the Public Works <br /> and others coming within the scope of the Board of Selectmen <br /> with which we were in disagreement and where we had not received <br /> any official figures. <br /> The Planning Board came into the meeting at 11 :00 and discussed <br /> their proposal for a parking lot on the westerly side of Massachu- <br /> setts Avenue . <br /> Meeting adjourned at 11:20 P.M. <br /> Next Week: <br /> 7:35 - Don Fifield <br /> 7:50 - Library Trustees <br /> 8:15 - Cemetery Commissioners <br /> 8:45 - Public Works Superintendent <br /> Amount of free cash as certified by the Division of Accounts is <br /> X376,757.36. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Ar PROPRIATION COMMITTEE <br /> Secretary <br />
