158 <br /> A meeting- of the Appropriation Committee was held in the Con- <br /> ference Room, Cary Memorial Building on December 13, 1954 with <br /> the following members pi ent: <br /> John Biggs Thomas Donnelly Jr. _ <br /> James MacDonald Robert Cave <br /> William Madden Frank D. Walker, Sec. <br /> All other members called saying they would not be able to attend. <br /> Gardner came into meeting at 10:20. <br /> Jim started meeting in proper frame of mind. <br /> Discussed car allowance. (see enclosure) <br /> Discussed Library and voted on items remaining in budget. Appro- <br /> priation Committee desires to go on record as against appropria- <br /> ting monies for specific major capital items and having depart- <br /> ments disregard their wishes when they feel they are well qualified <br /> to judge the merits of the item. (example - burner and tank at <br /> Library. ) <br /> Tom Donnelly discussed the questioned items in the Fire Department <br /> budget. Left two items in expenses to discuss with Commissioners. <br /> Report on income on Board of Appeals read and voted to approve their <br /> budget. <br /> James MacDonald and committee discussed Police budget. Voted to <br /> authorize two additional sergeants making total three and three <br /> new patrolmen. Defer the Inspectors until sub committee has more <br /> facts. Discussed new additional cruiser. No action, which will <br /> be necessary in order to evaluate the remaining budget for expenses. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 10:45. <br /> Next meeting December 20, 195+ @ 7:30 P.M. <br /> Agenda : School Budget <br /> Public Welfare (if possible) <br /> Meeting with Selectmen at 9:30 P.M. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Secretary. <br />
