q %4' S A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the Conference Room, Cary Memorial Building, on November 1, 1951 with the following members present : Gardner C. Ferguson, Cnairman Austin Fisher Jr. Thomas Donnelly Jr. Robert R. Cave James V. MacDonald John Biggs Leslie C. Reed William Madden Donald T. Clark Frank D. Walker, Sec. A policy of "Hold the line" was decided upon as far as the tax rate is concerned. It was requested that the sub-committees have very detailed inform- ation relative to their respective committees and report to the main committees so that preliminary suggestions may be made to committees or departments as to the actual amount for appropriation when final meeting is held; also writing part of report relative to their scope of observation. Car Allowances : Gardner has fulfilled agreement to bring up. ( One dissenter) The Long Range Planning Committee met at 8:20 and discussed the Plan- ning Board, Recreation Committee, School Committee and Police Depart- ment. Police Dept.
