0 <br /> 1 1. <br /> A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held on October 25, <br /> 1954 with the following members present: <br /> Gardner Ferguson, Chairman <br /> Austin W. Fisher Jr. William Madden <br /> John Biggs Frank D. Walker, Sec. <br /> Discussion on revised edition of report until 9 p.m. when adjourned <br /> to the Selectmen' s Office. The Selectmen were given a copy of our <br /> revised report and at the meeting there was only favorable comments. <br /> They thought they would be willing to adjust their votes to fit in <br /> with our plans on the revision. <br /> The Selectmen then brought us up to date on the proposed capital <br /> items for the next year which was not firmed up or had not been <br /> voted on by the Board of Selectmen: <br /> Miscellaneous - Parking Area in rear of Savings Bank and other <br /> buildings. No estimate as to cost. <br /> Street ( Betterment) Construction: <br /> Bertwell, Bridge, Fuller, Arcola, Pearl Brandon. <br /> Sewer ( Betterment) Construction: <br /> Hayes Ave. , Oxford, Shade, Sherburn, Arcola. <br /> Rough estimate of 0175,000 given for betterment street and sewer <br /> construction. <br /> The street between Bedford and Massachusetts Ave. is contemplated <br /> but not definite. <br /> Sidewalk Construction: <br /> School Street - land taking 8' -6' sidewalk, 2' road widening. <br /> Waltham Street - For Franklin School <br /> Curring Construction - Usual <br /> Street Construction ( no betterments contemplated) <br /> Water Mains - To strengthen system: <br /> Waltham St. (Parrett Rd. - Concord Ave. ) 65,000 <br /> Concord Ave. Cutler Farm Ave. to Pleasant 6.,000 <br /> Trunk Line Sewers : <br /> Mr. Batemen stated it could cost the town an estimated <br /> 10,000,000 in the next few years for sewers as some of the <br /> situations were getting worse. The Selectmen outlined a new <br /> trunk line which would be gravity fed to present pumping station. <br /> Estimated cost X750,000. <br /> Next meeting Nov. 1st at 7:30 p.m. ( Please notify Sec. if not possible <br /> Discussion - Approach to the 1955 budget. to attend) <br /> Responsibilities and duties of sub-committees . <br /> Long Range Planning at 8 p.m. <br /> School Committee at 9 p.m.-Warrant-Genii approach <br /> Meeting adjourned at 10:15 p.m. <br /> Respectfully' submitted, <br /> n. .
