1 7 <br /> .a <br /> A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the Con- <br /> ference Room in Cary Memorial Building at 7:30 P. M. on Decemoer 7, <br /> 1953 with the following members in attendance: <br /> Raymond W. James, Chairman <br /> Leslie C . Read Thomas J. Donnelly Jr. , <br /> William Madden Gardner C. Ferguson <br /> Donald T. Clark Austin W. Fisher, Jr., <br /> John M. Biggs <br /> Frank D. Walker, Secretary <br /> +w J <br /> Meeting was called to order at 7:30 by Chairman Raymond W. James . <br /> Letter from Board of Selectmen was read requesting transfer of <br /> 0;40000 from the Reserve Fund to Welfare - Aid & " xpens es . <br /> It was voted to transfer 54,000 from the Reserve Fund to Welfare- <br /> Aid & Expenses Account . <br /> Discussion followed relative to public hearings. It was voted <br /> to forego public hearings for 1953 - 1954. <br /> Tried out the tape-recorder. Seems to work well . <br /> Discussion on whether we should have a member on the Salary Study <br /> Committee. It was voted to have a member on this Committee( one opposed) . <br /> It was the sense of the meetiro that Bob Cave should be the one to be <br /> our representative and relieve him of some of his burdens on budgets <br /> which he has now. <br /> It was voted to ask the Town Counsel for an official interpretation <br /> of the By-Laws Article X111, Section 4, as pertains to "other municipal <br /> matters". <br /> Voted on some of the Expense Budgets . <br /> Discussion on putting all persons now receiving a car allowance on <br /> a mileage basis was not voted. <br /> Discussion on stopping meetings at 10:30 P . M. unless by unaminous <br /> consent to continue was not voted. <br /> Next meeting will be held Monday evening December 14, 1953 . <br /> Meeting adjourned at 10 :30 P .
