_:3 i <br /> A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the Con- <br /> ference Room in Cary Memorial Building at 7:30 P. M. on October 19, <br /> 1953 with the following members in attendance: <br /> Raymond W. James, Chairman <br /> Leslie C. Read Gardner C . Ferguson <br /> William Madden Austin W. Fisher, Jr. <br /> Conald T. Clark Robert R. Cave <br /> John M. Biggs <br /> Frank D. Walker, Secretary <br /> Welcome was extended to John Biggs as a new member on our <br /> Committee: Mr. Biggs will serve on the sub-committee to study the <br /> Public Works . <br /> Motion was made and voted to transfer $120.00 from the Reserve <br /> Fund to the Elections - Expenses (Jurisdiction of Selectmen) . <br /> Motion was made and voted to transfer 025. from the Reserve <br /> Fund to the Board of Appeals - Expenses, with the suggestion the fees <br /> be increased to cover the actual costs. <br /> At the State Association meeting held October 14, a discussion <br /> relative to the "Personnel Board" was held. The Town Counsel of <br /> Brookline discussed fully the enabling act Section 108A of Chapter 41. <br /> Motion was made that the Selectmen be petitioned to insert an <br /> article in the Warrant for the November 30 Special Town Meeting, this <br /> Article to be prepared by Harold Stevens, Town Counsel, establishing <br /> _ a committee to determine the feasibility of establishing a Job Classi- <br /> fication and Salary Committee. It was voted the approval of the <br /> motion will rest in the hands of the Chairman of our Committee. <br /> Recommend the committee consist of five residents of the Town. <br /> The Public Works sub-committee will investigate: <br /> Aim 1. How the unit cost of construction in Lexington <br /> compares with other comparable towns. <br /> 2. Specifications . <br /> 3 . What proportion of total cost does the Town assure. <br /> 4. How much average cost to abutter per linear foot. <br /> Achieve To reduce the cost to the citizen. <br /> Don Clarkmade a motion to buy a tape recorder to be used at <br /> hearings held by the Appropriation Committee.
