1 <br /> - 9 <br /> September 15, 1953 <br /> A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the Con- <br /> ference Room at Cary Memorial Building at 7:30 Monday evening, <br /> — Sent. 14, 1953, with the following members in attendance: <br /> Raymond W. James, Cnairman <br /> Gardner C. Ferguson Leslie C . Read <br /> Donald T. Clark Robert R. Cave <br /> William Madden <br /> ---4 Frank D. Walker, Secretary <br /> Harold Stevens, Town Counsel, was first to come before the <br /> Committee and Was asked to prepare a motion to present at some sub- <br /> sequent Town Meeting so as to establish a committee to study the <br /> salaries and wages of all Town Employees ( except teachers) includ- <br /> ing a job study and to recommend to the Selectmen -and Appropriation <br /> Committee the salary ranMe for each position including a maximum <br /> and minimum and the rating of the present incumber. Left at 8:05 P. M. <br /> School Committee with Elementary School Facilities Committee <br /> came in at d:05 and discussed Article 1. ( Fiske School Addition) <br /> Article 2/ ( the appointing of a Committee to procure detailed <br /> plans and specifications for a 16 room school at School Street, <br /> with estimates to be presented to the March 1954 Annual Town Meet- <br /> ing.) Article 3. ( the eppointing of a Committee to procure detailed <br /> plans ana specifications for a ( ?) room school on Maple. Street, <br /> with estimates to be presented to the March 1954 Annual Town Meeting. <br /> Under the first article for Fiske School Addition they have <br /> the following estimates : <br /> General Contractor 5267,400.00 <br /> Finish grading 10, 000.00 <br /> Architect 22, 160.00 <br /> Equipment 12,000.00 <br /> Insurance 500 .00 <br /> Bidding expense 500.00 <br /> Clerk of Works & Testing 3,500.00 <br /> Advertising & Miscellaneous exp. 1,) 110.00 <br /> Contingencies 7, 500.00 <br /> $325,000.00 <br /> This does not include an all purpose room which it is estimated <br /> would cost an additional 865, 000. This all purpose room was not <br /> included in the original plan of the school . <br /> VOTED: To appropriate the sum of $325, 000; 15, 000 to be <br /> transferred from E. & D. and the balance to be bonded over a <br /> period of 20 years. <br /> Under the article for the School Street School it was voted to <br /> appropriate the sum of $10,000. This sum to be transferred from <br /> the Excess and Deficiency Account . Total estimated cost $789,800. <br /> including all purpose room and lunchroom. <br />
