June 16, 1953 <br /> A -meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the office <br /> of the Building & Plumbing Department on Monday evening,- June 15, 1953 <br /> with the following members in attendance: <br /> Raymond W. James, Chairman <br /> Leslie C. Read Thomas J. Donnelly, Jr. <br /> Gardner C. Ferguson William Madden <br /> Donald T. Clark Austin W. Fisher <br /> Robert R. Cave <br /> Frank D. Walker, Secretary <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P . M. <br /> The Town Manager Committee composed of Joseph Belcher, Chairman, <br /> Lewis Hoyt, Mrs . Eleanor Litchfield, Walter Sands and Lee Tarbox were <br /> present to find out what our problems were and how, if they write a <br /> charter, they might be corrected. The Committee left at 9 :55. <br /> A letter from the Assessors was read announcing the Tax Rate at <br /> 1 .00 per M for the year 1953 . <br /> A copy of letter requesting a transfer from the Collector to the <br /> Board of Selectmen was read for information. This request was to pur- <br /> chase a new adding machine. <br /> It was voted that when and if a request is received from the <br /> Board of Selectmen that the Town Accountant would ascertain if it <br /> were the best possible price and that the amount not in excess of <br /> $269.20 be transferred from the Reserve Fund to purchase this new <br /> piece of equipment. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 10 :20 P .
