1 1: <br /> October 15, 1952 <br /> A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the office <br /> of the Town Accountant Tuesday evening, October 14, 1952 with the <br /> following members in attendance: <br /> Leon W. Bateman, Chairman <br /> Ralph H. Tucker Raymond W. James <br /> A. W. Cleveland Thomas J. Donnelly, Jr. <br /> Gardner C . Ferguson <br /> Ethel U. Rich Secretary <br /> The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by Chairman Leon W. Bateman. <br /> It was reported that John J . Sullivan is in Synimes Arlington Hospi- <br /> tal recovering from an injury. <br /> A letter received from Chairman Nickerson of the Board of Select- <br /> men was read as follows : <br /> "Mr . Leon W. Bateman October 9, 1952 <br /> Chairman, Appropriation Committee <br /> Lexington 73, Massachusetts <br /> Dear Sir: <br /> Due to the tremendous increase in registrations, raising the <br /> number of voters in Lexington to over 9800, it has become im- <br /> perative to supply more voting booths and we are authorizing Cus- <br /> tance Bros. to construct these for the November election in sum of <br /> $687 for forty-nine which still leaves us shy at least thirty booths <br /> of the number required by law. <br /> The Board has considered this an absolute necessity inasmuch <br /> as we are required to have a voting booth for every seventy- <br /> five registrants and we request that you approve this amount <br /> of money for a transfer from the Reserve Fund to the Elections <br /> Account - Jurisdiction Selectmen. <br /> Respectfully yours, <br /> Donald E. Nickerson S1 <br /> DEN:m Chairman, Selectmen" <br /> It was voted to transfer the amount of $687 from the Reserve <br /> Fund to Election-Expenses as Jurisdiction of Selectmen. <br /> The following transfers which had been previously voted were <br /> verified and are herewith recorded: <br /> Out of State Travel <br /> ( Selectmen,Town Counsel & <br /> Supt.Public Works 200.00 <br /> Weights & Measures ( expenses) 35.00 <br /> Memorial Day " 13.02 <br /> Dog Clinic 42.08 <br />
