4(i <br /> MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE <br /> APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE HELD ON <br /> May 22, 1950 at 7:30 P.M. <br /> A meeting of the Appropriation Committee was held in the <br /> office of the Town Accountant on Monday evening, May 22, 1950 <br /> at 7:30 P.M. with the following members in attendance: <br /> Howard A . Patterson, Chairman <br /> A. W. Cleveland Thomas Jr. Donnelly, Jr. <br /> Raymond W. James John J. Sullivan <br /> Clarence E. Smith Leon W. Bateman <br /> Frank D. Walker, Secretary <br /> The minutes of the meeting held on April 2)i., 1950 were pre- <br /> sented and approved. <br /> James J. Carroll, Town Clerk & Treasurer then took the Com- <br /> mittee to his office to demonstrate the counting and packaging <br /> machines. Returned at 7:50 and discussed the cost with Mr. Carroll, <br /> who retired at 8:05 P.M. <br /> Under Article 2, the motion was made and seconded that the <br /> sum of $1,000. be transferred from E. & D. to be refunded from the <br /> Parking Meter Fund, as it became available. <br /> Article 3 - Voted: (not unanimous) That the Appropriation <br /> Committee recommend to the Town Meeting that this Article be in- <br /> definitely postponed until such time as a thorough investigation <br /> was made into the actual savings to be gained by the installation <br /> of oil burner equipment. <br /> Article .. - Bids will not be opened until May 29, 1950. <br /> Article 5 - No recommendation <br /> Article 6 - No recommendation <br /> The School Committee came in at 8:30 left at 9 :45 5 and dis- <br /> cussed following articles which were afterward voted as follows : <br /> Article 7 - The Appropriation Committee recommends the Appro- <br /> priation of $105, 000 . of which $5,000. is to be transferred from <br /> E. & D. and $100,000. borrowed for a period not exceeding 20 years, <br /> under Chapter )111 , Section 7 ( 3) . <br /> Article 8 - The Appropriation Committee recommends the Appro- <br /> priation of $90,000. of which $35,000. is to be transferred from <br /> E. & D. and the balance of $55,000. is to be borrowed for 10 years. <br />
