S MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE HELD September 12, 1949 at 7:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Chairman, Howard A. Patterson in the Town Accountant' s Office with the following members in atten- dance: tten- dance: William M. Hall Emile J. Vadeboncoeur Robert W. Fawcett Clarence E. Smith Ralph H. Tucker A. W. Cleveland Leon W. Bateman Frank D. Walker - Secretary The minutes of the meeting held June 6, 1949 were accepted and approved, and Leon W. Bateman was welcomed to the Committee. It was decided that this year when a Department comes before the Appropriation Committee that the members of that sub-committee concern- ed should conduct the introduction questions as they are the ones most closely connected with the subjects to be discussed. When they are finished that questions from the rest of the Committee would be welcomed. The letters and answers from the Fire Engineers, with a cover letter from the Board of Selectmen were brought up and discussed. The Board of Fire Engineers came in to the meeting at 8:00 P. M. with the following members present : Chief Roy Cook Bill Fitzgerald Harold Roeder George Hines Bob Fawcett Bob,Fawcett conducted the interview. The Board left at 9:10 P. M. The following letter was sent to the Board of Engineers: "Harold E. Roeder, Chairman September 13, 1949 Board of Fire Engineers 23 Cedar St., Lexington, Mass. Dear Mr. Roeder: After giving careful consideration to your letter pf August 20, 1949 and as a result of our joint meeting of last evening, the Appropriation Committee voted to transfer 330.00 from the Reserve Fund to Connection of Fiske School Fire Alarm System. This amount we believe is the contract price for the work by Mr. Bills. As for any additional amount to your Expense Account, we feel that you should use other accounts within the total appropriation which have not been overdrawn to handle any deficiency. As you stated, you were contemplating purchas- ing an additional motor generator with the balance of the account, this Committee feel as though you should endeavor to keep your current expenses within the total $18,000.00 as appropriated without any transfers.
