The Appropriation Committee held a meeting at 9:00 A.M., on Mon- <br /> day, February 15, 1971, in the office of the Comptroller, Esta- <br /> brook Hall, Lexington. Present were Edward E . Furash, Chairman, <br /> Jack L. Mitchell, Vice Chairman, Elizabeth M. Flynn, Secretary, <br /> Arthur T . Bernier,, J. H. Blaisdell, Levi G. Burnell, Howard L. <br /> Levingston, Richard M. Perry, Comptroller and Donald B. White. <br /> The Annual Report_ was reviewed and edited. <br /> Selectmen Chairman Cataldo joined the meeting to discuss Articles #31 <br /> through #36. He explained the package arrangement of Art. #31, #32, <br /> #33, 34 and #36. He , also, explained the Chapter 90 authorization <br /> for Art. #35 (East Street) . Art. #76, the Master Tax Plan for Massa- <br /> chusetts, was discussed and the Committee agreed that, at this time, <br /> unfavorable action would be recommended. After Selectman Cataldo <br /> retired from the meeting, the Committee VOTED to recommend unfavor- <br /> able action on the Worthen Road Articles 31, 32, 33, 34 and 31, and <br /> Favorable action on Art. 35. <br /> Chairman Gallagher of the ,Recreation Department joined the meeting <br /> to discuss the Committee' s, reommendations on their budget. <br /> The afternoon was spent on Article #4 . Since the Report was "due <br /> for printing, and some budgets for Personal Services are still under <br /> negotiation and other Personal Service budgets have not been re- <br /> turned with the revised salary schedules, it was decided to send the <br /> Report to the printer with the 1970 schedule figures and correct <br /> them in a Supplementary Report for Town Meeting. <br /> The Chairman reported the following figures: <br /> General Town Government: <br /> Expended 1970 1332,157. <br /> Reqstd. 1971 331,598. <br /> DPW and Engineering: <br /> Expended 1970 712,356. <br /> Reqstd. 1971 634,100. plus <br /> 80,000. Road Machinery <br /> Town Mgrs.
