The Appropriations Committee held a meeting at 7:30 P.M., on Monday, <br /> September 14, 1970, in the office of the Comptroller, Estabrook Hall, <br /> Lexington. Present were Edward E. Furash, Chairman, Jack L. Mitchell, <br /> Vice Chairman, Elizabeth M. Flynn, Secretary, Arthur T . Bernier, J. H. <br /> Blaisdell, Levi G. Burnell, Howard L. Levingston, Richard M. Perry, <br /> Comptroller and Donald B. White. <br /> RESERVE FUND TRANSFERS: <br /> Acct. #2470 Rec. Dept.-P. S. $1,000. "Old Rest`-extra help <br /> Acct. #1075 Selectm.-Cler. Pool 1,000. Damages-Blossomcrest Rd. <br /> G <br /> Upon motions duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to <br /> transfer the above requested amounts. <br /> RESERVE FUND BALANCE: as of Sept. 14, 1970, $122,900. <br /> Discussion was held on the request of Mr. Vernon PaEe of the School Com- <br /> mittee and Town representative to the Regional High School Board for <br /> X1,000. for Lexington' s proportional share in the expense of publishing <br /> a brochure about the school. Should this come out of E & D or should it <br /> be submitted to the Special Town Meeting in November? The Town Meeting <br /> has not been definitely set. It was decided to hold a decision until <br /> a later time to secure more information on the project. <br /> Discussion was held on the Road Machinery Fund. Chairman Furash would <br /> like a report on last year' s amounts, the amount expected next year, and <br /> the amount expected to be requested for new machinery. What is the best <br /> way at this time to pay this Fund in order to level off the tax rate? <br /> Discussion was held on school vandalism. Chairman Furash will send a <br /> letter to Mr. MacInnes requesting dollar amounts, and a decision will be <br /> made as to the best way to publicize this and the proper way to bring <br /> this to the attention of parents. <br /> Mr. Walter O'Connell, Town Manager, joined the meeting at 9:10 P.M. <br /> Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED to go into Executive <br /> Session. Mr. O'Connell stated that the Conservation Commission's re- <br /> quest for $5,000. at a Special TM would not be acted upon until March. <br /> Discussion was held on the 42 hour work week for firefighters and on <br /> possible areas of over-staffing and expenses in the School Department. <br /> The next meeting night is scheduled for Monday, September 28, 1970 <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 10:20 P.M. <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Elizabeth M.
