The Appropriations Committee held a meeting at 8:00 P.M., on Wednesday,
March 11, 1970, in the office of the Comptroller, Town Office Building,
Lexington. Members present were Chairman Robert M. Gary, Elizabeth M.
_ Flynn, Secretary, Richard M. Perry, Comptroller, J. H. Blaisdell,
Levi G. Burnell, Jack L. Mitchell and Donald B. White.
EXECUTIVE SESSION: was held at this time with Charles F. Gallagher,
Jr. , a mem er of the Recreation Committee. Discussion was held with
respect to the P.S . Budget. The part-time status, salary and res-
ponsibilities of the Director were discussed at length. Chairman
Gary expressed the intention of informing the Selectmen that the Ap-
propriations Committee was not happy with the continued yearly in-
crease in the salary of the Director and that it agreed with the Rec-
--1 reation Committee that a salary study should be made. With the activa-
tion of the position of Town Manager, this would be within his juris-
diction.
t.. SUPPLEMENTARY AMENDMENTS:
A2214_11512 - Library Exp. - An error by the County Treasurerts
Office reduces by $700. the funds available from
County Dog License fees. Appropriations, therefore
recommends $701700. for this Acct., to which will
be added $2,798.09 ( rev. ) from the Cty. Dog Fund.
Acct. #7500 - Library P.S.- the Library Trustees will accept
Appropriations denial of their request for an
additional Library Techician, but they now request
$1600. to hire a part-time employee. This seemed
a reasonable request.
Acct . #1700 - Insurance - It was agreed to return to the original
request for $135,000. An increase was denied by
Town vote.
Chairman Gary read to the members a letter of resignation from Louis A.
Zehner. He will be appointed as new Town Treasurer.
The meeting adjourned at 10:45 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
7z f'
Elizabeth M. Flynn j
Secretary
