Souza <br /> Budget Requests <br /> Personal services sheetsa cannot be filled in until salary schedule is set. <br /> Salary Study Committee <br /> Dick Blomfield said that this committee was to meet with Selectmen tonight. <br /> They will probably give their recommendations at thatt time, and the <br /> Selectmen would be expected to decide upon their recommendations soon after. <br /> Public Works employees have a union and are now negotiating. <br /> Committee was informed of some of the recommendations the Salary Study <br /> Committee may make. <br /> Warrant Article - Vocational Technical School. <br /> Dick Blomfield reported that an appropriation of $200 will be requested <br /> for a study committee to look into the advisability of recommending <br /> that Lexington join several towns (possibly Concord, Lincoln, Weston, <br /> Belmont, Sudbury, Arlington) for the purpose of having a Regional <br /> Technical Vocational School. An informal study committee has been <br /> working on this proposal. <br /> The advantages are: <br /> construction costs are at least 50% reimbursed by state. <br /> operating costs for first 5 years are paid for almost 100% <br /> Lexington's share would be proportional to the number of students <br /> enrolled in the vocational school - <br /> The initial construction cost is prorated on the number of students in <br /> the town (public and private school students) in grades 9 thru 12. <br /> Questionnaire last May indicated that 8% of Lexington H.S. students <br /> had a career interest in vocational education (17.5% had a course interest) <br /> Civil Defense Advisory Committee - Appropriation Committee appointee is <br /> Don White. <br /> Budgets were discussed <br /> School Committee reports that operating expense increase is mainly <br /> bus expense (about $90,000) <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Ruth F.
