Souza <br /> James Grant, Cemetery Commissioner; Mrs. Healy, Cemetery Clerk <br /> Cemetery Budget #7350, discussed <br /> Request that clerk be full-time and move from grade 3 to grade 9 <br /> Increased burials, wish to keep office open 8:30 to 4:30, she must <br /> also attend meetings of Cemetery Commissioners. Mr. Grant stated that, <br /> when we had a part-time superintendent, he kept Westfiew in order and <br /> soldi lots. Now Mrs. Healey takes people out and interprets the maps <br /> for them; they wish to have people come to the office to get correct <br /> information since there is noone at the Cemetery who is capable of <br /> giving correct information. <br /> Overtime - $3000 asked for last year, $1500 granted, $1000 spent <br /> Backhoe was delivered June 26. <br /> ,--� Saturday burials increased from 26 in 1966 to 32 in 1967. <br /> To get through the year, theyput men to work in the woods where expansion <br /> is planned and split payroll between capital and operating outlay. This <br /> work is usually done in February or March, but is not often charged <br /> against capital outlay. <br /> Two men requested - to continue development of backland. <br /> Burials - 1965 1966 1967 <br /> 173 182 200 Westview <br /> 17 Munroe <br /> Development is needed. There areenough graves for five years on the <br /> left side, enough for only two years on the right side. Therefore must <br /> develop the back land <br /> Charges $70 per single <br /> 35 for opening. $25 additional chatged for Saturday burial. <br /> Appropriation Committee requested that Commissioners compare fees with <br /> other cemeteries and let us know what they decide to do about fees. <br /> Uniforms - They are now providing a uniform, rented and laundered, for <br /> all men because they thought the men in workclothes looked too shabby <br /> at funerals. They used to buy uniforms, but these woreout in 1960. <br /> Committee suggested the purchase of several suits of coveralls which <br /> could be kept in the building at the cemetery and put on for funerals. <br /> Police protection for Yeirorial Day - worked well <br /> Truck, 1961 model, willneed replacement soon. Possibility of trading <br /> with PAID. <br /> Recommendations Appropriation Committee decided to recommend that <br /> ars. Healey work full time at grade S3F <br /> #4350 approved at $44,801 to which will be added $5000 from Perpetual <br /> Care. Two additional laborers not approved. <br /> Public Works Department budgets discussed with Al Grey <br /> #5450 $56,050 will be requested if shovel dozer is bought at cost of <br /> $25,000 (needs $12,000 repairs) <br /> Sewers $170,000 of Selectmen's trunk sewer fund has been spent. <br /> Sidewalks - no figure available yet <br /> Lloyd land - $60,000 - 65,000 to be requested. Ownerx wants $96,000 <br /> Road Machinery - all items are replacements except skybucket <br /> #1760 $6000 approved <br /> #2000 $4,147 approved. <br /> Census checked on combining school with Town census. Dick Perry and <br /> High School teacher in charge of school census both recommend dual <br /> censuses for first year, then when we have ironed out wrinkles, a single <br /> census. School man thought it would cost about $2,000 to $3,000 not <br /> including cards and supplies. Cards could be used for voters list, dog lists, etc. <br /> r <br />
