Q <br /> Appropriation Committee Meeting <br /> January 3, 1965 <br /> �-- Meeting called to order by Chairman Parrish at 0740. <br /> General Discussion: <br /> A. T.M.M.A. request for opinion on necessity of By-Law stipulating <br /> deadline for Appropriation Report prior to Town Meetings - <br /> Consensus of Committee that By-Law not necessary at this time. <br /> B. Discussion of Salary Policy and also the quality and timing <br /> r-i of the Town Report, improvement needed here. <br /> Letter from Mr. Gray re: salary of Welfare Director - no increase <br /> this year. <br /> Visit by Mr. York re: audio system for Cary Hall - it was suggested <br /> that Mr. Carroll include this item in 1966 expenses budget of Cary Bldg. <br /> Inspection of various budget requests; some approved; others postponed <br /> pending questions of Selectmen and/or Town Clerk. <br /> Discussion of "Out of State Travel" expense policy; various ideas put <br /> forth - decision postponed pending compilation of items and report at <br /> next meeting by Mr. Carlson. <br /> Visit by Mr. Gray - informed Committee of Selectmen's action on <br /> remainder of budget and the Article expense items. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 11 p.m. Present were Messrs. Kenney, acting secretary <br /> The Appropriation Committee met on Monday evening, January 18, 1965 <br /> in the office of the Town Accountant. <br /> Present: J. Harper Blaisdell <br /> Rank T. Parrish, Jr. Mrs. Richard W. Souza <br /> Richard H. Battin Robert M. Gary <br /> Raymond L. White, Sec. <br /> Oscar Carlson telephoned that he would not be present as he was <br /> home sick with a virus. <br /> • Mr. Blaisdell stated that the Boardof Selectmen had a meeting last <br /> Saturday morning in regards to salaries. They are proposing a sixth <br /> step to Evans' salary report of 5%. Longevity of 3% of base. <br /> There was a general discussion in regards to Moreland school site, <br /> I whether it be Moreland Ave. , or Pleasant Street. <br /> The remainder of the evening was spent on general discussion, such as: <br /> Capital Expenditures last year was 1,270,000. <br /> The Board of Selectmen recommending a $60,000 increase in salaries. <br />
