RECREATION <br /> The following points were made by the Chairman; <br /> 1. We are struggling with the very real question of <br /> the size , scope and general cost to the Town. <br /> 2. Can the life of the present pool be extended? <br /> The following points were made by members of the Recreation <br /> Committee : <br /> 1. Must make provisions for the handicapped - ramps, etc . <br /> 2. There is a definite intent to improve the competitive <br /> instructional capability aspect of the pool. Additional <br /> cost of $45,000 to build a diving pool. <br /> 3. Users of the pool : 600 a day during the week; 300 a day <br /> during the weekend. <br /> 4. Utilities cost: $38 , 000 electrical - $26,000 storm drainage - <br /> $7,000 sewers. <br /> 5. Chairman White asked the Recreation Committee to update the <br /> costs of extending the life of the present pool. <br /> 6 . It was stated by Mr. Wells that the abutters are not <br /> happy with the present plan. They feel their noise level <br /> is going to be greatly increased. <br /> Comments by members of the Appropriation Committee : <br /> John Campbell - We are proceeding very cautiously - I <br /> feel $700,000 is just too much money. <br />
