332
APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE
DATE: February 13, 1978
TIME: 7:30 P.M.
PLACE: Town Office Bldg. Room 111
PRESENT : George Silverman, Vice Chairman, Richard M. Perry,
Secretary, Peter Hall, John Campbell, John Blaisdell,
Martin Gilman, William Dailey
I . LIBRARY
The following questions were asked:
1. What does $62,000 for books in budget represent?
2. We were advised that if the security system was in
place we would see a saving of $15,000 a year. We
are concerned that after having this equipment in place
there is still an increase .
3. Assuming that Town Meeting were to agree with us and
cut $5, 000 - what would the effect on level of services
be?
II . REPLACE
The following questions were asked:
1. What about proposed salary increases?
2. What about over-lapping services between MVMH and Replace?
III . RECREATION
The following questions were asked:
1. "Pool just costs too much money" . If pool were constructed,
how much would come back in revenue?
2. We are very concerned with the total cost and the majority
of the Committee is not willing to go along with this level
of expenditure.
3. What kind of reimbursement would be available if the pool
was built as an adjunct to the school department.
4. We arerepared to support a replacement of the pool but
not at $600 ,000.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M.
Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 21, 1978 at 7 :30 P.M.
Respectively submitted,
Richard M. Perry/mo'b
Secretary
