Room 111 <br /> PRESENT: Donald White , Chairman, George Silverman, Vice Chairman, <br /> Richard M. Perry, Secretary, John Blaisdell, Martin <br /> Gilman, William Dailey <br /> I . RECREATION: The following requests were presented by the <br /> Recreation Committee to the Appropriation Committee: <br /> a. Tennis Courts <br /> Cost: $14,770 -- $3,400 left from last year reducing cost. <br /> Revenue Raised: $7,400 in user fees. <br /> Present lights are most inadequate - new lighting would <br /> increase user fees. <br /> b. Bike Paths <br /> Area: 7 miles <br /> Cost: $99,843.50 -- $25,000 to be raised on the Tax Levy. <br /> Balance to be funded by the Commonwealth of Mass. Dept. <br /> of Transportation. If not done this year, there is a <br /> good chance that the funds will not be available another <br /> year. Chairman White asked if it would be possible to get <br /> a written authorization on this and it was stated by the <br /> Recreation Chairman that this will be in hopefully by Town <br /> Meeting. <br /> Note : Vice Chairman Silverman asked the Committee if they <br /> anticipated any problem with horses? Answering <br /> his own question - Mr. Silverman stated "as long as <br /> they are not on bicycles: " <br /> c. Pool Complex <br /> Cost: $690,000 - requesting $50,000 for plans and specs. Pre- <br /> sent pool built in 1929; filters old; has been patched; bath- <br /> house is in bad condition and does not meet sanitary code ; <br /> to renovate present pool would cost $265,000-275,000. <br /> Revenue : $20, 000 in user fees. <br />
