Furash, Chairman, John Blaisdell, Secretary, <br /> Peter Hall, Vice President, Gen. Gov't. , Martin Gilman, <br /> Patricia Hagedorn, John Campbell, Richard M. Perry, <br /> Comptroller, Ex-Officio <br /> tet;. <br /> I . APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE REPORT <br /> It was moved and seconded to have Lexington Press <br /> do the printing of the Appropriation Committee's <br /> Report for 1977. <br /> SO VOTED <br /> II . SCHOOL CLOSINGS <br /> A. Superintendent Lawson has submitted a new 60 <br /> page report. It was so stated by the Chairman <br /> that he felt the report was very much to the point. <br /> B. In order to gain some control over school costs, it <br /> is necessary to close schools. <br /> C. Hancock #1 to close in 1977. <br /> D. Estimated Cost savings: <br /> Parker -- $160,000 <br /> Monroe -- 160,000 24 mil over 5 years <br /> Adams -- 121,000 <br /> Muzzey -- 260,000 <br /> E. The time has come when we must do something about the <br /> size of the system. However, there will be no change <br /> in classroom size. <br /> F. Chairman Furash stated he felt the School Committee <br /> needed help. We must take a clear cut look at the <br /> situation. We have been asked by the School Committee to <br /> deal with the declining school enrollment over the past <br /> four years. They have hired a professional and he has <br /> written a report and we should say "great": <br />
