261 <br /> APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE <br /> DATE: January 24, 1977 <br /> TIME: 7 :30 P.M. <br /> PLACE: Town Office Building-Room G-15 <br /> PRESENT: Donald White , Vice Chairman-Schools, J. H. Blaisdell, <br /> r-, Secretary, Peter Hall, Vice Chairman-Gen. Gov't. , <br /> c:. Mitzi Kutchin, Patricia Hagedorn, Howard L. Levingston, <br /> Richard M. Perry, Comptroller, Ex-Officio <br /> I . RECREATION <br /> Mr. Busa, Chairman of the Committee made the following points: <br /> a. It was so stated by Mr. Busa that the Committee did not <br /> have their full report to present to the Appropriation <br /> Committee and Capital Expenditures Committee. <br /> b. We merely want a sense of feeling given to us from the <br /> Appropriation Committee as to how far we can go with our <br /> Articles, Mr. Busa stated. <br /> c. A copy of the proposed Articles was presented to the Committee. <br /> (attached) <br /> d. Pool is main priority. <br /> e. Permanent Building Committee appropriated $7 ,000 to under- <br /> take feasibility study to see whether or not this complex <br /> can be situated on present site. <br /> f. $60,000 requested for architectural designs for the site - <br /> Phase I to be ready by March 1, 1977. <br /> g. There will be a 2nd Article for a smaller amount if this <br /> site is not suitable. <br /> h. Mr. Busa stated he would like support from the Appropriation <br /> Committee and Capital Expenditures Committee on the floor <br /> of Town Meeting. <br /> i. Mr. White stated that the Appropriation Committee could not <br /> at this meeting give a definite number. <br /> j . Mr. Silverman stated that in the past recreation has had <br /> the support of both Committees: <br /> k. Mr. White stated that "yes" , we must support recreation and <br /> the study, however it all depends on the financial status <br /> of the town and what it can afford. "I do not think you <br /> should pull out all the Articles" Mr. White stated. <br /> II . TOWN REPORT <br /> Mr. Perry reported two bids so far re the above subject: <br /> 1. $48.00 - Lexington Press (per page) <br /> 2. $49.10 - Spaulding <br /> Mr. Blaisdell suggested that we look into an 8-x11 size page. <br /> Mr. Perry will report back on this. <br />
