SOLID WASTE <br /> a. Selectmen stated that they were very pleased with the <br /> Sanitary Landfill report. <br /> b. The plan is to keep the landfill open long enough to <br /> develop a plan for solid waste disposal. <br /> c. There are sufficient funds allotted to execute Phase I <br /> of the program for upgrading the landfill - 4i5,000 <br /> will be requested for water quality monitoring. <br /> d. Frank Sandy stated that closing the landfill will not <br /> solve the problems. It is more cost effective to allow <br /> it to continue . <br /> e . Chairman Kassler stated that it should be good for <br /> another + or 5 years. <br /> f. Mrs. Miley stated that the rules of the dump should <br /> be changed -- not allowing contractors to dump. This <br /> was disputed by the other Selectmen. <br /> g. Joyce Hals stated that 30/0 of material in the dump <br /> is recycleable . Chairman Kassler stated that this <br /> Solid Waste Committee should work with other Boards <br /> to create a moderate recycling plan. <br /> h. Chairman Furash stated that caution should be taken re <br /> this.
